WriteStories was founded to bridge the gap between clinical narrative intervention and modern technology. We build tools that reduce documentation burden, respect clinical judgment, and keep families connected to their child's growth.

WriteStories was founded by Dr. Bob Wood, who holds a PhD in Psychology and spent over 25 years leading technology organizations before establishing Scriptive, LLC in Wisconsin.
Too much clinical software starts with an existing consumer tool or a generic text engine with therapy terminology bolted on. WriteStories took the opposite path: starting from the Narrative Scoring Scheme (NSS), peer-reviewed story grammar literature, and the daily caseload realities of school and clinic SLPs. Every scaffold tier, illustration, and scoring rubric was shaped with direct input from speech-language pathologists actively managing heavy caseloads.

Every automated CUPS or NSS score is a suggestion. Every drafted session note is editable. Every scaffold adjustment is decided by the treating clinician. Technology should remove routine documentation burden — never clinical authority.
Every design decision traces back to published, peer-reviewed literature — including story grammar frameworks (Boudreau & Hedberg, 1999), visual elicitation (Spencer & Slocum, 2010), and systematic scaffold fading (Ukrainetz et al., 2005). We cite the foundational research transparently so you know exactly what is under the hood.
We distinguish clearly between technique-level research and product-specific efficacy. Our independent clinical pilot is getting underway to study platform-specific outcomes. We will never present pilot projections as settled facts, and we invite clinicians to evaluate the tool on its own merits today.

We're happy to walk through the clinical design, the research, or anything else in more depth.
